Fort Polk fights for first place
The opponents shake hands, walk to opposite sides of the octagon and face each other. Once the 10-minute clock begins counting down, they collide in the middle of the ring, flinging each other against the chain link fence surrounding the ring. Inevitably, one fighter pulls, slams or sweeps the other to the mat, and the two wrestle for dominance. They pry with feet and elbows, slap heads, knee rib cages and punch abdomens.

Fort Polk anti-terrorism office implements iWatch
Imagine these scenes: It starts as a normal workday and becomes a nightmare when an explosion rips through an office building on Fort Polk. As emergency personnel respond to the scene and pull bodies from the wreckage, word of the disaster spreads across post as fast as the fire which engulfs the building.

Using foot shape to select running shoe is 'sports myth'
If you want to minimize your chance of injury while running, you choose a shoe based on your foot shape, right? Wrong. Results of three military studies showed that prescribing shoes based on foot shape made no difference in the rate at which injuries occurred in Army, Marine and Air Force basic trainees, who spend quite a bit of time running. That's "no" as in none, sports fans.
Army technology expands snake robotics
Development of snake-like technology underway at the U.S. Army Research Laboratory July 22 is moving the military toward sending more autonomous systems instead of Soldiers on search-and-rescue missions, a top priority in the most dangerous mission areas.
