Parent, child arts
The Fort Polk Arts and Crafts Center offers the following classes during March:
• Tuesday, 4-7:30 p.m., spring/Easter tote bag painting for ages 5 and up. Class fee is $15 and all supplies are included. This is a parent/child project. If parents want to work on their own tote bags, extra bags can be purchased before class.
• March 16, 5-7 p.m., kids ceramic painting. The project consists of two ceramic eggs and one mini bunny. You must preregister by Tuesday. Class fee is $15 and all supplies are included.

Amazing race
Fort Polk’s version of the popular reality TV show takes place March 6 at 8 a.m. when the Directorate of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation kicks off “The Amazing Race” on the streets of South Fort Polk. Twelve Soldier and 12 Family teams of four will compete, following clues to different locations. Space is limited to the first 12 teams. For more information call 531-9734/0119.
1st MEB
HHC, 1st MEB — The HHC Family Readiness Group will hold a KrispyKreme Doughnut fund-raiser in front of the Fort Polk Main Post Exchange today from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. The FRG will also host a Family day March 26 at Alligator Lake. For more information call (337) 353-8337.
Poetry workshop
Fort Polk’s Allen Memorial Library offers a poetry workshop for aspiring poets March 20 at 2 p.m. for youth ages 12-18 and again March 27 for adults. Bring your poetry for personalized assistance. Class is limited to 10 students. Call 531-2665 for more information.
Fun with PWOC
Have you ever wanted to try your hand at Cajun cooking? How about putting that sewing machine collecting dust in the closet to good use? Protestant Women of the Chapel will host Workshop Day March 2 from 9 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel. Choose from a variety of workshops including Cajun cooking, sewing, crafting, finances, relaxation and more. Lunch is provided and free child care is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. FRSA training
The Forces Command Family Readiness Support Assistants Team hosts a training session Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Warrior Community Center.
The training is for all commanders, Family Readiness Group advisors, FRG leaders, FRG co-leaders, FRSA raters and FRSAs. All FRSAs should consolidate RSVPs, to include commanders, rear detachment commanders and FRG leaders, to cindy.driscoll@conus.army.mil or 531-6047.
