CNO/CAO training
The next training and certification class for casualty assistance officers and casualty notification officers takes place March 17-18 at the Education Center, classroom 123. Class maximum is 35 students. Those eligible include staff sergeants and above, warrant officer 1 and above and 1st lieutenants and above, as well as chaplains, S-3/S-1 staff and Family Readiness Support Assistants. AER campaign
Fort Polk’s Army Emergency Relief campaign continues through May 15. AER provides assistance to low-income military Families for emergency travel, housing, car repair, utilities, medical expenses, funeral costs and disaster relief. For more information visit the Internet at www.aerhq.org.

SAMC meeting
Fort Polk’s Sgt. Audie Murphy Club meets Thursday at the Warrior Community Center from 11:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. For more information call 531-0254.

Road work
Work begins on North Fort’s Entrance Road Monday from the Shoppette in bldg 7000 to A Avenue. Construction is expected to move quickly but minor traffic interruptions may occur. The work should be complete by April 30.

WSTV on air
You can watch “The Grill Sergeants,” a weekly, half-hour cooking show featuring some of the military’s top chefs, on Fort Polk’s own WSTV, channel 3 (SuddenLink), on and off post. Viewers are guided through step-by-step menu preparation and learn about nutrition and food safety. The show airs Mondays at 11 a.m., Tuesdays at 9 a.m., Wednesdays at 9 p.m., Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 5:30 p.m. and Sundays at 4:30 p.m.

ACP upgrades
Phase II for access control point upgrades at ACP 7 (K Avenue, commercial vehicle gate) is expected to be complete by March 13. Upgrades are also planned for ACP 6 (Chaffee Road) from Monday through March 27. Bypasses will be created around the work areas and may slow traffic and cause delays.

Army Ten Miler
Qualifying runs for the Fort Polk Army Ten Miler team take place March 17 at 6:30 a.m. at the track adjacent to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital.
Registration is from 6-6:20 a.m. Reflective belts are mandatory. Run results will be given to the post command sergeant major. For questions call 531-2056.

G1/S1 conference
The quarterly G1/S1 conference and training brief will be held Wednesday at the Warrior Community Center in ballroom 1 from 1:30-4 p.m.
The training is mandatory for brigade and battalion S1s and their respective human resources personnel. RSVP by Monday at 531-6565.

DTS training
Defense Travel Service classes are ongoing at Fort Polk’s Library and Education Center, bldg 660. Each class has 20 computers, so space is limited. The next classes are:
• Tuesday from 9-11:30 a.m., “authorizations and vouchers,” room 215.
• Thursday from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizations and vouchers,” room 215.
• March 12 from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizing and reviewing official,” room 215.
• March 23-25 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., “Organizational Defense Travel Administrator” (requires certifying officers legislation training certificate to attend), room 211.

Parking limited
The parking area west of Chesser Dental Clinic, bldg 2157, is closed through April 16. The area will be used to house three modular swing space buildings to the north and west of the clinic to allow the Soldier Readiness Processing mission to continue as renovations take place in the SRP Center in bldg 1942. A 240-space parking lot is available north of the clinic.

Free tax preparation
The Installation Tax Center is located at 1881 23rd St., bldg 2502, and offers free tax preparation for Soldiers, Family members and retirees. Office hours are 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Thursday; and 9 a.m.-noon Saturday.
Walk-ins are welcome but appointments have priority. Call 531-1040 for an appointment.
