ACAP services
Soldiers who are separating from the Army may start using Army Career and Alumni Program services within 12 months of their projected separation date.
Those retiring may start 24 months prior to their projected retirement date.
Deployed Soldiers affected by stop loss must initiate ACAP services prior to deployment by completing the mandatory DD Form 2648, preseparation checklist, during deployment Soldier readiness processing.
At that time they are given a pre-separation briefing with information about ACAP services for themselves and their family members as well as what transition services and benefits are available through other internal and external agencies.
Spouses of eligible deployed Soldiers become eligible for ACAP assistance once the Soldier completes the initial preseparation briefing. The ACAP web site (www.acap.army.mil) offers valuable information and a wide range of tools and services that Soldiers and spouses can access during deployment. For more information call 531-1591.
