Unit sports
Fort Polk’s Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation unit sports hosts  the follwing events:
• Intramural bowling tournament Tuesday at Strike Zone Bowling Center at 1 p.m.
Only one four-player team per unit can participate. Teams will bowl a three-game series over three days. Bowling and shoe rental are free. Registration is held through Tuesday.
• Triathlon Aug. 18 at the South Fort 50-meter pool. The event includes a 6.2-mile bike ride, 3.2-mile run and a 200-meter swim. The event is open to all adult FMWR users. Registration begins at 6 a.m. and the race starts at 6:30 a.m. Participants are required to wear reflective belts and helmets. For more information call 531-2056.
• Registration for flag football runs from Monday-Aug. 24. Coaches must submit a unit alpha roster, team roster with 15 players and two points of contact with e-mail addresses and phone numbers. There will be a coaches meeting Aug. 26 at 1:30 p.m. The flag football season begins Sept. 7. For more information call 531-1898/2056.

Casting call
The Showboat Theatre fall production auditions are held Monday through Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. at the theatre. The show, “The Kids Left. The Dog Died. Now What?” is a musical comedy about the struggles of divorce, aging bodies, grandchildren and the dating scene. For more information call 531-2337.

AAFES savings
AAFES patrons can save 20 cents per gallon of gasoline purchased with a Military Star card at AAFES shoppettes from Aug. 21-23.

Thrift store
The Fort Polk thrift store is located in  bldg 2531, the last building on the right on Alabama Avenue. The store is open from 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. the first Saturday of each month and 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month. The store accepts items on consignment. The consigner earns 70 percent of sales and 30 percent goes into the military community. For more information e-mail ftpolkshop@yahoo.com.

PWOC
Protestant Women of the Chapel hosts a six-week Bible study program, “Looking through the Prism of Promise,” Tuesday from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Main Post Chapel. Child care is free. Fellowship meal

New drycleaning hours
The Army and Air Force Exchange Service laundry/dry cleaners in bldg 1455 will have new hours of operation effective Saturday: Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m.-1 p.m., closed Sunday. For more information call 537-6800.

TBRS bass meet
Toledo Bend Recreation Site hosts night fishing tournaments the fourth Saturday of each month and daytime tournaments the first Saturday of each month. Cost is $50 per two-person team with an additional $5 charge for big bass. Teams must launch from TBRS and follow regulations available online at www.fortpolkmwr. com/toledo_bend_recreation _site. Bereavement support
A bereavement support group meets Wednesdays from 3-4 p.m. at Social Work Services, bldg 920, Army Community Service.
If you have unresolved grief due to the death of a loved one you are encouraged to attend this group.

ACS classes
Army Community Service offers the following classes:
• Adult sewing — Wednesdays from 1-3 p.m. at the Family Readiness Center, bldg 924. Classes and materials are free. For more information call 531-1895.
•Play morning –– a two-hour session where parents and children play in a group setting. Sessions are held Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. at the Army Community Service Center. For more information call 531-9753/1938.
•Army Community Services Baby Center –– Did you find yourself a little behind this month on providing baby necessities to your child?
You can speak with a representative to determine if you qualify to receive some of the following: Diapers, pull-ups, formula, wipes, cereal, baby food and hygiene items. The center is located at the ACS Center, bldg 920 and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
•Military and Family Life consultants –– This is a solution-focused consultation. No records are kept. All Department of the Army and Department of Defense civilians, contractors, retirees, active duty Soldiers and Family members are eligible for services. Consultants are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the ACS Center, bldg 920. Call 531-1938 for more information.
