Road work
Work begins on North Fort’s Entrance Road March 8 from the Shoppette in bldg 7000 to A Avenue. Construction is expected to move quickly bur minor traffic interruptions may occur. The work should be complete by April 30. Watch for reduced speed limits and seek alternate routes when possible.
Employer days
The Army Career and Alumni Program offers the following employer recruitment days:
• Wyotech visits the center March 3 from 8 a.m.-noon. The company has opportunities in automotive, diesel, collision refinishing, aviation, motorcycle and marine fields.
• Troops-to-teachers assists eligible military personnel transition in a new career as a public school teacher. A program representative is available at the ACAP Center March 9 from 8 a.m.-noon.

ACP upgrades
Phase II for access control point upgrades begins Monday at ACP 7 (K Avenue, commercial vehicle gate) and is expected to be complete by March 13.
Upgrades are also planned for ACP 6 (Chaffee Road) from March 8-27.
Bypasses will be created around the work areas and may slow traffic and cause delays.

MOS classes
Military Occupational Specialty courses are offered at Fort Polk’s Library and Education Center, bldg 660, in these areas: Standard Army management systems-enhanced; chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear environment; digital training management systems; unit armorer; fuel handler; and emergency medical technician-basic. Classes have 10-20 seats available per course. Those with MOS/course experience/certification who are interested in part-time employment as a technical instructor in one of the above classes can call 535-4999.
G1/S1 conference
The quarterly G1/S1 conference and training brief will be held March 10 at the Warrior Community Center in ballroom 1 from 1:30-4 p.m. The training is mandatory for brigade and battalion S1s and their respective human resources personnel. RSVP by March 8 at 531-6565.
Digital facility
Fort Polk’s Digital Training Facility, located at the Education Center, is available to take care of your unit’s training needs. Call 531-5665 for more information on these activities:
• First sergeant course 06-10 graduates in a ceremony Wednesday at 9 a.m. The ceremony takes place at the Education Center in room 101. The community is invited to attend.
• The facility offers a Battle Staff NCO course in July. See your training NCO to complete phase 1 training and input to Army Training Requirement and Resource System.
Workers needed

BC/BC visit
A Blue Cross/Blue Shield representative will be available to discuss insurance needs Thursday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Civilian Personnel Advisory Center, bldg 3304. This is not open season for benefits. No appointment needed.
Army Ten Miler
Qualifying runs for the Fort Polk Army Ten Miler team take place Wednesday and March 17 at 6:30 a.m. at the track adjacent to Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital. Registration is from 6-6:20 a.m. both days. Reflective belts are mandatory. Participants are not required to run both days. Run results will be given to the post command sergeant major. DTS training
Defense Travel Service classes are ongoing at Fort Polk’s Library and Education Center, bldg 660. Each class has 20 computers, so space is limited. The next classes are:
• Thursday from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizing and reviewing official,” room 215.
• March 9 from 9-11:30 a.m., “authorizations and vouchers,” room 215.
• March 11 from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizations and vouchers,” room 215.
• March 12 from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizing and reviewing official,” room 215.
• March 23-25 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., “Organizational Defense Travel Administrator” (requires certifying officers legislation training certificate to attend), room 215.

Cadre position
The Military Child Education Coalition seeks to fill a Parent to Parent cadre staff position at Fort Polk. The position is part-time (10-15 hours per week).
