Tax Office open
The Installation Tax Office is located in bldg 2502, 1881 23rd St., on the corner of Alabama and 23rd streets.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
Thursday, the center is open from 11 a.m.-7 p.m.
Saturday's hours are 9 a.m.-noon.
Walk-ins are welcome but appointment have priority.

Services discontinued
The following Fort Polk services will be discontinued:
• The Fort Polk Taxi Service, operated by the Transportation Motor Pool, terminates service at close of business Sunday. The service is no longer authorized under current guidelines.
This action has been directed by the Directorate of Logistics and Installation Management Command headquarters.
• Vehicle lockout services, provided by the Directorate of Emergency Services, ceases operations Monday due to budget constraints.
The DES will provide the service in the event of a child or pet locked in a vehicle, but those who simply lock themselves out of their vehicles will have to call a locksmith.
Command blood drive
A command blood drive takes place Thursday at bldg 350 from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. in the LifeShare Blood Center on site facility.
Blood donations are needed as supplies are running low.
Culvert repairs
Culvert repairs on Texas Avenue, north of Cavanaugh Road, are scheduled to begin in early February.
A temporary bypass will be constructed adjacent to the roadwork. Reduce speed and use caution when driving in this area.
Class 86 graduates
The community is invited to attend the graduation ceremony for Class 86 Combat Advisors Thursday at 9 a.m. in bldg 8209, North Fort.
The graduation ceremony is held by the 1st Battalion, 353rd Infantry Regiment, 162nd Infantry Brigade, the unit responsible for training combat advisors before deployment
Cadre position
The Military Child Education Coalition seeks to fill a Parent to Parent cadre staff position at Fort Polk. The position is part-time (10-15 hours per week).
Cadre staff consists of parents committed to education and military children. Experience working in related fields is desired. Professional training will be provided.

H1N1 vaccines
H1N1 vaccinations are available at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital’s immunization clinic Mondays and Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. and Fridays from 1-3 p.m. Walk-in are welcome.

Closed for training
The Directorate of Human Resources ID card sections in bldgs 1830 and 1942 will be closed Feb. 12 from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. for mandatory training.

DTS training
Defense Travel Service classes are ongoing at Fort Polk’s Library and Education Center, bldg 660.
Each class has 20 computers, so space is limited.

• Feb. 5 from 1-3:30 p.m., “traveler’s training class, authorizations and vouchers,” room 215.
• Feb. 17-19 from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m., “Organizational Defense Travel Administrator” (requires certifying officers legislation training certificate to attend), room 215.
• Feb. 25 from 1-3:30 p.m., “authorizing and reviewing official,” room 215.
