Fort Polk, La. —

Join the Directorate of Family Morale, Welfare and Recreation in honoring the sacrifices made by military spouses. Military Spouse Appreciation Day will be held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. May 8 at the Warrior Community Center.

Chef Scott Landry, of Lake Charles, will entertain with a comedy cooking presentation. The first 300 attendees will receive a gift bag of kitchen gadgets. Door prizes will be awarded throughout the day.

Free lunch and child care will be provided. Children must be registered with Child, Youth and School Services and child care, which must be reserved in advance by Tuesday, is filling up fast.

Landry is from Cajun country and his accent flows as thick as gumbo roux as he tosses out one-liners and throws shrimp into his cookpot. Audiences get a laugh and a meal from this show.
Landry has served his fare to senators, congressmen, movie stars and music luminaries, royalty and presidents.

He has shared stages with Paul Prudhomme, Marlin Yan, John Folse and Chef Tell. When he discovered that people crave Cajun food even on the Colorado slopes, he founded the Breckinridge Crawfish Festival. He is a frequent guest on national talk and cooking shows, where his conversational flair matches his culinary showmanship.
